After the initial idea to open a laundry service, Besmir changed direction completely to develop the mineral industry in Kosovo and recycling of waste products

Besmir Grezda was in his second year of studies at the Faculty of Economics in Prishtina when he learned about the opportunity of attending trainings offered by the Business Start-up Centre Kosovo (BSCK). Knowing that to attend the trainings offered by BSCK, Besmir had to come with an innovative idea, initially coming up with the idea of a self-service laundry, a business that does not exist in Kosovo. With this idea, he gained entry into the Business Idea Competition and was rewarded 10 weeks of free training.

The main aim of these workshops was to further improve entrepreneurship curricula and entrepreneurial learning capacities in higher educational institutions.

Just when Fadil was thinking about a new challenge, he got in contact with BSC Kosovo. “BSCK helped us to narrow down our ideas. We started off with ideas, now we have a business plan”. The consultancy hours Fadil won were used for market research on used car batteries and for fine-tuning their business plan. When the machinery arrives from the US , expected in 2 weeks, Bio Green Factory will start producing one of their main products which is bio diesel.

Reshid is taking over the farm of his father, which he transferred recently from a traditional small scale farm to a larger farm with 10 cows and 40 m2 land (the largest farm in the area has 15 cows). With the €5.000 loan of BSC Kosovo and a €3.000 loan of organization KRK he invested in his farm. He buys calves and grows them to the point they’re ready for sale to the butchery. The average profit per cow is €50.
